Join us in July as we continue our America Through the Eyes Of Series with Susan Danger, CEO of The American Chamber of Commerce to the EU (AmCham EU).

Moderated by AmChamSG CEO Dr. Hsien-Hsien Lei, Susan who will speak online from Brussels, will share her expert perspective on the priorities, challenges, and opportunities facing U.S. businesses in Europe and the transatlantic relationship. She will also discuss the continued attractiveness of Europe as a trade and investment destination and the crucial role of the U.S.-E.U. Trade and Technology Council (TTC) in shaping the bilateral tech and digital future.

Susan Danger is CEO of the American Chamber of Commerce to the EU (AmCham EU), who speaks for American companies committed to Europe on trade, investment and competitiveness issues. She has full strategic and operational responsibility for the association and represents it externally. AmCham EU is a membership organization supporting over 150 US corporate companies, international business, and law and consultancy firms in the area of public affairs.

Susan has dedicated her entire career to advancing transatlantic cooperation. She joined AmCham EU in 1995 as Communications Manager, becoming Communications & Operations Manager in 2000. Since 2002 she has been leading the organization as Managing Director and since 2016 as CEO. In 2003 she oversaw the re-branding of AmCham EU and its separation from AmCham Belgium.

AmCham EU has been voted Best EU Trade Association of the year in 2021 by BestinBrussels.eu. In 2017 AmCham EU was awarded for the fourth time the Trade Association/Professional Body of the Year Award, having previously won the award in 2009, 2012 and 2014.

Susan was named by POLITICO as one of the top 20 women influencers in Brussels in 2016 and 2020.

Susan was elected as Chair of AmChams in Europe (ACE) for the period 2020-2023. AmChams in Europe (ACE) serves as the umbrella organization for 50 American Chambers of Commerce (AmChams) in 48 countries throughout Europe and Eurasia. She has also served as Vice-Chair (2009 - 2014) and was a Member of its Executive Committee (2005-2008).

Susan was appointed member of the Governing Board of the European Policy Center in March 2021.

A graduate of the University of Bath, UK, with a BA in European Studies, French and German, Susan’s career developed in London in marketing and communications within the tour operation industry, where prior to coming to Brussels she worked for Thomson Tour Operations.

A dual UK and Belgian citizen fluent in English, German and French and conversant in Dutch and Spanish, Susan Danger lives in Brussels with her husband and has three children.

Dr. Hsien-Hsien Lei is Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of The American Chamber of Commerce (AmCham) in Singapore — the largest and the most active international business association in Singapore and Southeast Asia representing over 650 companies. Hsien is also Adjunct Associate Professor at the National University of Singapore Saw Swee Hock School of Public Health, member of the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health’s Advisory Board, Vice President of the Precision Public Health Asia Society, board member of TalenTtrust, member of the United Women Singapore STEM Advisory Panel, and member of the 2023 FIRST Global Challenge host committee.

Prior to AmCham, Hsien was Vice President, Medical and Scientific Affairs, Medtronic Asia Pacific, where she was responsible for the Medtronic Innovation Centers in Japan and Korea, training and education, and the company’s health systems transformation strategy in the region. Hsien has extensive experience in scientific affairs, corporate and healthcare communications, advertising, public relations, and government affairs.

Hsien has lived and worked in the US, Taiwan, Japan, Vietnam, UK, and is now based in Singapore. She holds a BA (with honors) in Human Biology from Stanford University and a PhD in Epidemiology from The Johns Hopkins University Bloomberg School of Public Health where she was the recipient of a US National Institutes of Health Cardiovascular Disease Epidemiology Training Grant. Her doctoral thesis explored the genetic epidemiology of end-stage renal disease and type 2 diabetes. She completed her post-doctoral fellowship at National Taiwan University Hospital in the Department of Internal Medicine.
