AmCham Singapore will be holding our first Healthcare Conference: Partnering for a Future-proof, Sustainable Healthcare Ecosystem on June 8, 2023. We are honored to have Mr. Ong Ye Kung, Minister for Health as the Guest of Honor and Keynote Speaker.

Singapore has mapped out its priorities for strengthening the social compact and building resiliency for future healthcare needs, with focus areas that include boosting support for an ageing population, expanding clinical services, increasing support of telehealth, and improving data collection and sharing. This conference is an opportunity to bring together policymakers, industry leaders, healthcare professionals and other key stakeholders to explore new solutions and opportunities for stronger partnerships with the goal of achieving better patient outcomes and a healthier Singapore.

Singapore’s aging population is growing rapidly, with an estimate of 1 in 4 citizens being over the age of 65 by 2030. Currently, conversation on the ageing population centers on healthier and more active lifestyles while ageing in the workplace is rarely addressed. Mr. Ong Ye Kung is the Minister for Health. He was elected Member of Parliament for Sembawang Group Representation Constituency (GRC) in September 2015, and was re-elected in July 2020 in Sembawang GRC.

He had held the positions of Minister for Transport, Minister for Education, Second Minister for Defence and board member of the Monetary Authority of Singapore. He is also the Chairman of the Chinese Development Assistance Council.

Prior to joining politics, he held various positions in Government, including Chief Executive Officer of the Singapore Workforce Development Agency, and Deputy Chief Negotiator for the US-Singapore Free Trade Agreement. He served several years in the Labour Movement, as the Deputy Secretary-General of the National Trades Union Congress, and spent some time in the private sector, as the Director of Group Strategy at Keppel Corporation.

Mr. Ong graduated from the London School of Economics and Political Science (UK) and the Institute of Management Development, Lausanne, Switzerland. He is married with two children.

Serene is a co-founder of Speedoc, one of the region's leading digital health startups. In 2020, Speedoc raised S$6.7 million in a Series A funding round led by Vertex Ventures; and in 2022, raised a further S$28 million in a pre-Series B funding to expand its virtual home care programme.

During the pandemic, Speedoc was a key member in Singapore’s COVID-19 response providing medical attention to the foreign worker dormitories, performing more than 25, 000 swabs, helping more 18, 000 seafarers be certified fit to fly home when global shipping lanes came to a standstill, and administering COVID-19 jabs to the housebound. As part of the efforts to uplift the healthcare landscape, Serene also worked with government and hospital partners to create virtual hospitals in Singapore. Speedoc has since discharged more than 4,000 patients successfully from its virtual ward programme.

Today, Serene leads a team of 200 in 3 countries and works on establishing Singapore’s digital health leadership in the region, with close to 200, 000 patients who have used Speedoc's services till date. She was named on Forbes’ 30 Under 30 Asia list in 2021, one of TechNode Global’s Southeast Asia’s top 50 rising Women in Tech 2021 and was also listed under Edge 35 Under 35 list in 2021. She also received the Emerging Star Award at the Wee Kim Wee School of Communication and Information’s Spotlight Awards 2021 and was conferred the Nanyang Outstanding Young Alumni Award by NTU in 2022. Speedoc was also named as a top winner of the OCBC Emerging Enterprise Awards 2022 and was also listed in the J.P. Morgan Asia Pacific Top 100 Women-Powered, High-Growth Businesses Report.

Susan Fanning has 25 years’ experience of commercial leadership in Healthcare and Financial Services in Europe, Asia and Africa. She was named in the Medika Life 2022 Top 30 Women Transforming Healthcare as an influential voice changing health for the better.

Most recently she was the Chief Health & Wellbeing Officer at Prudential Thailand, with commercial responsibility for their Health and Employee Benefits businesses. Under her leadership Prudential Thailand was the first insurer to ever participate in World Diabetes day in Thailand, and launched a range of digital tools aimed at supporting mental health and female health.

Susan has worked in start-ups as well as big corporates including Bupa, Aon, Barclays and Mercer. She is a passionate advocate for better collaboration in healthcare ecosystems, and the use of data to make healthcare more inclusive, accessible and affordable.

Susan is a Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries and has an MBA from INSEAD.

Amy Jackson joined J&J as the Head of Government Affairs and Policy for Pharmaceuticals for the Asia Pacific region in October 2021. At J&J, she works with local, regional, and global teams to coordinate government affairs strategies and activities in individual Asian markets and across the region. Amy is currently a member of the Maureen and Mike Mansfield Foundation Board of Directors and previously served as a Vice President of the American Chamber of Commerce in Japan for 5 years.

From January 2016-September 2021, Ms. Jackson was based in Tokyo and served as the Japan Representative for the Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America (PhRMA) association. For six years before that, Ms. Jackson was the President of the American Chamber of Commerce in Korea (AMCHAM Korea). Ms. Jackson was awarded an Industrial Service Medal by South Korean President Lee Myung-bak in 2012 and was inducted as an honorary citizen of Seoul in 2013.

Prior to joining AMCHAM Korea, Ms. Jackson was a Director at Crowell & Morning International, a trade and investment consulting firm based in Washington D.C. From 1998-2005, Ms. Jackson worked at the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative (USTR), first serving as the Director of Japanese Affairs and later as the Deputy Assistant USTR for Korea. Prior to that, Ms. Jackson worked in the International Relations Division at the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA). Ms. Jackson served as a Mansfield Fellow (which included one year in intensive language training and one year working in her counterpart government agency in Japan) from 1995-1997.

Ms. Jackson has a master’s degree in International Relations from Johns Hopkins University and a bachelor’s degree in Government from Pomona College. She is married and has a teenager son and daughter and currently lives in Singapore.

Darren Lim is the Senior Country Director of Singapore. Darren joined Medtronic in 2004 and has held various progressive roles including sales representative, Business Unit (BU) Manager for Surgical Technology Southeast Asia, BU Manager for Restorative Therapies Group (RTG) and most recently held the role of Business Director for Singapore. Under his leadership, the Singapore team has shown strong double-digit growth year on year. He is also a three-time winner for SEA President’s Club award.

As the country leader for Singapore, Darren holds the full P&L responsibility and plays a pivot role in developing a high performing and highly skilled commercial organization to support and engage our healthcare providers to achieve greater results and better outcomes. Together with our customers, the teams were able to expand our therapies access to more patients in Singapore.

Darren holds a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (RMIT), Melbourne, Australia.

Eric Ng is Executive Director & General Manager at Amgen, responsible for the company’s commercial operations in the South East Asia (SEA) Region, Hong Kong and India.

Currently based in Singapore, Eric oversees Amgen’s affiliates in the region, including Singapore, Hong Kong, Thailand, Philippines, Malaysia, as well as our partnerships in India, Indonesia and Vietnam. Eric is also a member of the executive leadership team for the Japan and Asia Pacific region (JAPAC).

Eric joined Amgen in 2016, bringing with him more than 25 years of experience in the healthcare and pharmaceutical industry across broad geographies and business areas. Prior to Amgen, he was with Sanofi in roles covering multiple country general management, marketing and commercial strategy across Singapore, China, Indonesia, and Vietnam/Indochina.

Eric also held several sales and marketing roles of increasing responsibility in AstraZeneca, Merck and Glaxo previously, including a global commercial role based in Europe for a few years.

Eric holds a Bachelor’s Degree of Science from the National University of Singapore.

Evelyn is the General Manager for Moderna Biotech Singapore and is leading her team as a public health partner and changing the world of medicine by delivering the greatest impact to people through mRNA medicines.

Taken on sales, marketing, medical, strategy and commercial operations roles for Singapore and Asia Pacific, she has successfully launched blockbuster brands in both primary and specialty care areas including Immunology, Oncology, Diabetes, Cardiology, CNS and Vaccines; and maximized life cycle management of these products through strategic medico-marketing and resilient crisis management plans.

As a marketer, her strengths in key opinion leaders’ engagement and commitment in patient-centricity accelerated her journey in developing innovative digitized physician-patient care solutions. Her healthcare consulting experience further anchors her strategic mindset, with years of hands-on commercial operations experience in the region. In her recent roles, Evelyn built a regional marketing team that leads brand excellence across 13 Asian markets, focusing on strategy, launch excellence, digital transformation, strategic alliance management and business development. She was also a cluster General Manager with over 350 employees and P&L responsibilities for both pharmaceutical and consumer health business.

A firm believer in diversity, equity and inclusion, Evelyn has a proven track record of building high-performance teams with cross-functional collaboration capabilities. She is a purpose-driven, impactful leader who influences across cultures while building deep relationships. Eloquent in English and Mandarin, she connects well with people of diversified backgrounds and has extensive networks within the healthcare industry. In her free time, she mentors health tech and social entrepreneurs and is an avid barre instructor.

Simranjit Singh is the CEO of Guardant Health AMEA (GH AMEA), a joint venture between Guardant Health, Inc. and SoftBank. He has more than 15 years of senior management experience in Asia Pacific working with biopharma, diagnostics and medical device companies. He leads GH AMEA which is a global leader in precision oncology. GH AMEA’s comprehensive genomic profiling (liquid biopsy) tests are available in over 30 different markets across Asia, Middle East and Africa and it has two regional offices in Singapore and Tokyo.

Prior to Guardant Health, Simranjit was the Vice President of the Medical Devices and Diagnostics Division at IQVIA where he delivered exponential revenue growth by driving business transformation and growing the clinical research, consulting and regulatory business to advance market share in Asia Pacific. Simran holds a BSc in Biomedical Sciences from the National University of Singapore and an MBA from the University of Chicago.

Yasemin is a passionate leader driven to make a difference in her roles at IHH Healthcare, one of the largest healthcare networks in the world with 83 hospitals accross 10 countries. Besides being the Group Head of Branding Strategy, she has started to lead Sustainability for the group in September 2021.

Yasemin has held diverse roles in her 20+ years career from working in leading PR and advertising agencies in Istanbul to joining Hyatt Hotels headquarters in Chicago after her Masters Degree from Northwestern University. At Hyatt, she cherished all her various roles from doing database marketing, loyalty marketing, strategic marketing and managing Park Hyatt brand globally. After moving to Singapore, she continued her Park Hyatt role and formed her own strategic consulting firm where she consulted other hospitality brands, luxury brands and start-ups.

Yasemin also taught at Singapore Management University where she got awarded Top 10 Faculty. Teaching is a calling Yasemin looks forward to going back to at the right time again.

Healthcare was not an industry Yasemin ever thought about joining but the opportunity fell on her lap in 2017 right after her nephew and others she loved passed on after their battle with cancer. So she joined IHH Healthcare with a strong purpose to make a difference.

Yasemin makes it a priority to find quality time for her two daughters as well as herself to do ballet.

Her aim with her sustainability role is to look into her daughters’ eyes and be able to say she did the best she could to leave a better, healthier world for generations to come.

Dr Clive Tan is a Public Health physician and specialist with more than 16 years of clinical and leadership experience in the healthcare sector, and had worked in the World Health Organisation, Singapore Ministry of Health and the Singapore Armed Forces. His work experience include senior managerial roles, business development roles, education and evaluation, and policy and planning roles. He had a series of leadership roles within the Singapore Armed Forces and completed his military career as Group Head of the Force Health Group in the SAF, where he provided enterprise-level leadership in the areas of public health, biodefence & force health protection, health policy and medical informatics.

He currently holds the position of Assistant Chief, Group Integrated Care in the National Healthcare Group in Singapore, and is responsible for strategic and operational planning for integrated care and population health efforts for the Central-North region of Singapore, incorporating value-based care and healthcare quality into programmatic developments. In recent years, he had also taken on technical consultancy roles for WHO in the areas of quality and patient safety, hospital management and integrated health service delivery.

He read Medicine in the National University of Singapore on a SAF Medical Scholarship, and attained his Masters of Public Health from Johns Hopkins University, with dual certificates in Gerontology and Humanitarian Assistance. He has a special interest in health systems, health services development and health promotion, and has taken on post-graduate teaching roles for the school in areas of public health and healthcare management.

He is an adjunct Assistant Professor at the National University of Singapore’s Saw Swee Hock School of Public Health, the Duke-NUS Medical School’s Centre of Regulatory Excellence, and the National University Health System’s National Preventive Medicine Residency Programme. Dr Clive Tan writes regularly for medical publications and has published widely in international journals.

Andrew’s Career in Healthcare spans 35 years. In his current role Andrew has responsibility for Healthcare Policy, supporting AWS public policy teams across the APAC region

Previously Andrew led the Health Economics, Market Access, Policy and Government and Stakeholder Relations functions for Medtronic in Australia and New Zealand, in addition to coordinating Government Affairs for the APAC region.

Previously Andrew has had a variety of roles within Healthcare organisations across business and functional leadership. In addition to his Medtech experience, Andrew started his career as a Registered Nurse and has worked in the Pharmaceutical Industry as well as a brief stint in the Hospitality Industry. He holds a MBA from the University of New England and a BA in Media from Griffith University.
