Event Details
The COVID-19 pandemic has been exploited by fraudsters worldwide. In 2020 alone, the FBI's Internet Crime Complaint Center received over 28,500 complaints related to COVID-19. Earlier this year, Singapore announced that it is joining an Interpol-led global financial crime task force looking into transnational financial crimes, including COVID-19 vaccine scams.
As part of AmCham's U.S. Government Brown Bag Series, FBI personnel assigned to the U.S. Embassy in Singapore will share their experiences in investigating fraudulent schemes perpetrated on companies of all sizes throughout the COVID-19 pandemic.
Join AmCham as we hear from the FBI on recent fraud trends, how companies are targeted, mistakes made along the way, and how companies can protect themselves and their customers.
About the Series
The U.S. Government Brown Bag Series aims to strengthen ties between the U.S. Government and the American business community in Singapore. Before COVID-19 shut down borders, AmCham regularly partnered with the U.S. Embassy to host visiting delegations of the U.S. government. These engagements were valuable opportunities for American businesses to receive direct policy and business-related updates from the U.S. government, and to share on the opportunities and challenges of operating in the region. With the Biden administration forging ahead with new appointments and policies that will impact this region, it is important for the American community abroad to maintain its links back home.
Through this series, AmCham aims to renew its regular engagements with the U.S. Government to support a strong and resilient American business presence in the Asia Pacific region.
