Dr. Hsien-Hsien Lei is Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of The American Chamber of Commerce (AmCham) in Singapore — the largest and the most active international business association in Singapore and Southeast Asia, with over 6,000 members representing over 550 companies. Hsien is also Adjunct Associate Professor at the National University of Singapore Saw Swee Hock School of Public Health, member of the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health’s Advisory Board, member of the Singapore Institute of Directors MNC Committee, co-lead of the WorkWell Leaders SME Action Sub-Group, and on the organizing committee of the Precision Public Health Asia Conference.

Prior to AmCham, Hsien was Vice President, Medical and Scientific Affairs, Medtronic Asia Pacific, where she was responsible for the Medtronic Innovation Centers in Japan and Korea, training and education, and the company’s health systems transformation strategy in the region. Hsien has extensive experience in scientific affairs, corporate and healthcare communications, advertising, public relations and government affairs.

Hsien has lived and worked in the US, Taiwan, Japan, Vietnam, UK, and is now based in Singapore. She holds a BA (with honors) in Human Biology from Stanford University and a PhD in Epidemiology from The Johns Hopkins University Bloomberg School of Public Health where she was the recipient of a US National Institutes of Health Cardiovascular Disease Epidemiology Training Grant. Her doctoral thesis explored the genetic epidemiology of end-stage renal disease and type 2 diabetes. She completed her post-doctoral fellowship at National Taiwan University Hospital in the Department of Internal Medicine.

Associate Professor David LYE Chien Boon (MBBS, FRACP, FAMS, FRCP) graduated in medicine on the Dean’s List from the University of Melbourne in 1996 and completed specialty training in infectious diseases in Australia in 2004. He returned to Singapore to work at the Department of Infectious Diseases, Tan Tock Seng Hospital (TTSH) in 2005.

He is currently senior consultant, Department of Infectious Diseases, TTSH and associate professor at Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore as well as Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine, Nanyang Technological University. At TTSH, he founded and led the Antimicrobial Stewardship Programme from 2009 to 2018. At the National Centre for Infectious Diseases, Professor Lye is Director of the Infectious Disease Research and Training Office. He headed Singapore Infectious Diseases Clinical Research Network from 2014 to 2020, and Training and Education Office, NCID from 2018 to 2020.

He is the current chair of the National Antimicrobial Stewardship Expert Panel. He is a member of National Antimicrobial Resistance Control Committee, One Health Antimicrobial Resistance Project Team and Expert Committee on COVID-19 Vaccination, Ministry of Health, Singapore.

Professor Lye has held more than SGD$10million in research grant as principal investigator to date. He has published more than 270 peer-reviewed manuscripts in journals such as NEJM, Lancet, JAMA, Lancet Infectious Diseases, Lancet Global Health as well as Science, Science Translational Medicine, Nature Biotechnology and Nature Communications.

He is a member of the Editorial Advisory Board, Journal Global Antimicrobial Resistance. He was formerly an associate editor, BMC Infectious Diseases and Scientific Reports, and a member of the editorial board, JAC-Antimicrobial Resistance.

Professor Lye is President of the College of Physicians, Singapore and Society of Infectious Disease (Singapore). He is an advocate for HIV prevention as Vice President of Action for AIDS.

Internationally, he is secretary general, Asia Pacific Society of Clinical Microbiology and Infection, and a member of executive committee, International Society of Antimicrobial Chemotherapy, and council of International Society of Infectious Diseases.

Professor Lye’s awards include: Dean’s Award for Teaching Excellence, Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore, 2016; National Healthcare Group Team Recognition Award 2017, Silver, Hospital Acquired Infection Elimination Collaborative; Tan Tock Seng Hospital Milestone Award 2017, Antimicrobial Stewardship Programme; and NHG Research Awards, Outstanding Research Impact Award 2019 and 2020.

Mohan Ravuru is a physician researcher with over 15 years’ experience in In-Vitro diagnostics and biopharma industry. He has performed basic, clinical and translational research in Immunology, Infectious diseases and Molecular biology in academia and industry.

As director of medical and scientific affairs for Abbott Rapid Diagnostics in Asia Pacific region he oversees the Infectious Diseases portfolio for Emerging Markets. Previously, he managed the donor blood screening portfolio for HIV, Hepatitis as well as emerging and re-emerging infectious diseases for Grifols. Earlier he served in a global medical affairs role with GSK Biologicals to support clinical development, launch and post-launch activities of vaccines for invasive pneumococcal and meningococcal infections worldwide.

His first foray into industry was with Becton Dickinson research and development under Immunization division. Prior to that, he served as clinical research fellow at National University Hospital and Changi General Hospital in Singapore.

Beyond his MD degree, he has a Masters’ degree in cancer immunotherapy from National University of Singapore and a technology management degree from University of Queensland, Australia.

Shafi Shaikh is responsible for maintaining operational relationships with Mastercard’s customers in Asia Pacific. In his role as the Head of Customer Delivery for AP, his team is responsible for delivering all of Mastercard’s products and services seamlessly to its customers. Since early 2020, he is also serving as the Regional Crisis Commander leading the crisis response team for AP.

In his previous stint in Mastercard, Shafi was Senior Vice President and Regional Lead for Operations and Technology (O&T) for Asia Pacific where he was the single point of contact for all O&T related matters including (but not limited to) strategic alignment of O&T priorities in line with business needs, driving key technology initiatives within the region and supporting the growth of O&T teams.

He also handled responsibilities as the Head of Customer Implementation Services (CIS) for Asia Pacific responsible for quickest time-to-market of Mastercard’s products and services and integrating and facilitating implementation of new and existing Mastercard products and processing services. In addition, Shafi headed the Office of Workforce Management for O&T contributing to the strategy for Workforce Management for O&T globally and working with teams across Mastercard O&T as well as with suppliers to improve Financial Accountability and Cost Optimization.

Shafi has more than 25 years of experience in various technology roles in Citibank/Citigroup, Wipro Technologies and AurionPro Solutions and has worked in different locations globally handling a broad range of IT functions including business management, operations management, project management, solution design/deployment, service delivery, customer implementations and customer support.

He has been consistently recognized for great customer service delivery, initiating change, process improvements and for the ability to bring organizational discipline and focus to achieve business goals.

Shafi is an electronics engineer from Mumbai Technical Board and has received his MBA from University of Strathclyde, UK.
