Event Details

AI's expansion across industries has opened up opportunities for misuse, raising public concerns around data privacy, intellectual property rights, ethics, and other related issues. Countries are now grappling with how to draft AI regulations that balance the fine line between fostering innovation and safeguarding public interest. It is no surprise that Singapore, a hub for cutting edge R&D, has been preparing for the age of AI, starting with its 2020 Model AI Governance Framework to major updates like the recent Model AI Governance Framework for Generative AI and the Generative AI Evaluation Sandbox.

However, even for forward thinking nations like Singapore, rapid AI innovations are leaving countries to play catchup. Drafting comprehensive AI policies is particularly challenging due to the technology's rapid evolution, with ongoing innovations presenting ever changing novel risks and concerns. Existing tools offered by governments, such as Singapore's governance testing framework and software toolkit AI Verify, are struggling to keep pace, necessitating constant updates. For companies, AI regulations mean increased legal and compliance obligations. Companies that are operating multiple markets in this region face the additional challenge of navigating a fragmented regulatory landscape with disparately evolving policies across jurisdictions.

Join AmChamSG as we host a panel of AI experts for an in-depth overview of Singapore's AI governance approach, updates on AI regulations in the region, and how businesses can prepare for this rapidly changing policy landscape.
