Quint Simon

Managing Director of Public Policy, Asia Pacific and Japan at Amazon Web Services (AWS)

Dr. Yuhki Tajima

Director, SDS - Asian Studies Program (ASP) and Associate Professor, Edmund A. Walsh School of Foreign Service at Georgetown University

Quint Simon serves as Head of Public Policy, APAC for Amazon Web Services (AWS). She leads AWS’ engagements with policy-makers and regulators across the Asia-Pacific on policy issues related to the adoption of cloud computing and emerging technologies. She has deep expertise in cross-border data flows, cybersecurity, privacy and data protection, and digital trade. Based in Singapore, Quint is Vice-Chair of the Asia Cloud Computing Association (ACCA)’s Executive Committee and on the board of the US-ASEAN Business Council.

Before joining AWS, Quint was a public policy consultant and deputy head of the technology practice at APCO Worldwide, a public affairs agency. She led numerous government relations and advocacy campaigns for technology clients in Greater China, ASEAN, and the Middle East.

Quint holds a Bachelor Degree in International Politics from Georgetown University and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from INSEAD. She is proficient in Mandarin Chinese and Spanish.

Yuhki Tajima is Director of the Asian Studies Program and Associate Professor in the Edmund A. Walsh School of Foreign Service at Georgetown University. He has authored a book entitled The Institutional Origins of Communal Violence: Indonesia’s Transition from Authoritarian Rule (Cambridge University Press) and articles in The American Journal of Political Science, The American Political Science Review, International Organization, The Journal of Conflict Resolution, The Journal of East Asian Studies, The Journal of Southeast Asian Economies, and The World Bank Indonesian Social Development Papers. His research examines communal violence, insurgencies, post-war societies, criminal gangs, disinformation, ASEAN relations, and the political economy of development using extensive fieldwork and quantitative methods.

His work has been supported by The World Bank, The Asian Development Bank, Innovations for Poverty Action, The Institute for Global Conflict and Cooperation, and The Pacific Rim Research Program. Dr. Tajima was previously Assistant Professor of Political Science at The University of California, Riverside and an Order, Conflict, and Violence Fellow at Yale University’s MacMillan Center for International Affairs. He has consulted extensively with the World Bank and the United Nations Development Programme and was a researcher at the Federal Reserve Board of Governors. He holds a PhD in Public Policy and an MPA in International Development from Harvard University and a BA in Physics from Swarthmore College.
