[In-Person] DEI Deep Dives: Strategic Networking to Generate Opportunities

AmCham's Women in Business Committee is excited to introduce a regular cadence of monthly committee meetings called DEI Deep Dives. During these sessions, we will hear updates from our Co-Chairs on committee activities, have discussions on top-of-mind topics on advancing women in business, and enjoy networking afterwards.

Join us on Thursday, September 29, 4:30pm - 6:00pm for our very first meeting! During the session, our Committee Co-Chairs will share updates on the committee's activities and events in the pipeline and get member feedback.

We will then hear from two member experts on how women can strategically leverage opportunities to network. Studies have revealed that women face a variety of networking challenges, including networking opportunities being organized around male interests, hesitancy in openly showcasing their talents; unclear articulation of their work or career goals; and a tendency to be drawn to similar people, resulting in a homogenous network. Following an open discussion with the experts and attendees, there will be networking over drinks to put the session learnings into practice.

Sophie Guerin

Women in Business Committee Co-Chair and Head of Diversity & Inclusion, APAC at Johnson & Johnson

Lee-Mey Goh is the Director of Strategic Partnerships and Development at The American Chamber of Commerce (AmCham) in Singapore. In this role, she is responsible for the overall business performance of the Chamber and advancement of stakeholder and partner engagement.

Lee-Mey joins from the Singapore Economic Development Board having worked with leading pharmaceutical and medical technology companies to drive the development of Singapore's biomedical sector via investment promotion and policy innovation. Prior to this she excelled in academic publishing, having served for 4 years in London as Editor at the British Medical Association and Mark Allen Group across various healthcare and veterinary science journals.

Lee-Mey is a graduate of Durham University, UK with a first-class honors degree in English. She is a recipient of the Ruth Bostock Memorial Prize and Faculty of Arts and Humanities Scholarship in 2012 specializing in Classics and Old English.

Sophie Guerin is the Head of Diversity & Inclusion, APAC at Johnson & Johnson. Prior to joining J&J, Sophie was the Head of D&I, APAC at Dell Technologies and the Head of D&I for Community Business. She has been living and working in APAC on and off for 18 years.

Currently residing in Singapore, Sophie is a recognized expert on diversity & inclusion in Asia and speaks frequently at industry and thought leadership forums. She is co-author of “Examining Diversity & Inclusion from an Asian Perspective” and “Developing Dependency” which explores special economic zones in the Greater Mekong Sub-region. She is a member of the Diversity & Inclusion in Asia Network Advisory Council and a Founding Member of the American Chamber of Commerce Singapore Women’s Steering Committee. Sophie is the first recipient of the American Chamber of Commerce China Committee of the Year Award and is the Founder of Women in International Public Affairs based in Paris, France.

She and her partner have a toddler and two cats.
