Advanced manufacturing has seen rapid growth borne from significant necessity. Pandemic-induced lockdowns, for instance, saw a 350% jump in container costs while also shuttering manufacturers. With the shortage of materials and labor exacerbated, record levels of robot density in manufacturing were observed this year, averaging 113 units per 10,000 employees. Topping the list at 918 units was Singapore, the world's most automated country - and of the top five, three were from Asia. As manufacturing is re-shored out of China, the surrounding APAC region remains an attractive destination amidst the push for supply chain diversification and digitalization.
