AmCham initiated the Meet the MPs Series in 2020 to cultivate a deeper understanding between Singapore Members of Parliament (MPs) and leaders and the business community on the priorities, concerns, and issues in the Singaporean community, as well as develop collaborative ways for the local and business communities to work together.

Join us as Mr. Gerald Giam, MP for Aljunied GRC, touches on his role as an MP and speaks about the need to strengthen entrepreneurship, employment and employability in Singapore. He would also like to hear attendees' views on how their companies are adapting to the greater restrictions on the inflow of foreign workers and professionals, while maintaining competitiveness and improving productivity.

Gerald Giam Yean Song (严燕松) has been the Member of Parliament for Aljunied GRC since July 2020. He was a Non-Constituency MP from 2011 to 2015 and is the Treasurer of the Workers’ Party.

Mr Giam is the chief technology officer of an IT solutions company which he co-founded. He has worked in various roles in the IT industry, including as a senior consultant at Avanade and a project manager at MSC Consulting. He is a Registered Management Consultant,
certified by the Institute of Management Consultants (Singapore). He also served as a foreign service officer in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Mr Giam holds a Master of Science in International Political Economy from the Rajaratnam School of International Studies at Nanyang Technological University and a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Southern California. He attended Anglo-Chinese School (Independent) and Anglo-Chinese Junior College. He is married to a chartered accountant and they have two children.
