Please join us on our first session of a three part deep dive, in partnership with Marsh and McLennan and AmCham discussing Emerging Risks, Enterprise Risk Management and ESG.

During these interactive sessions we will explore the role of the board in governing these this increasing important and inter-connected areas of risk and opportunity.

The sessions will be led by Specialists from across MMC with domain expertise in the risk, strategy and people issues firms today face.

James is the Chief Executive Officer for Marsh South Asia. He is responsible for developing and leading the execution of the regional strategy. As part of the Asia Executive and passionate about people, James takes an active role in leadership and development, training and diversity and inclusion across the
region.

James joined Marsh Asia as the Marine Hull Leader in 2010. In 2014, James was appointed Energy and Marine Leader Asia-Pacific and was part of the global Energy and Marine executive team, before becoming the Asia Specialties leader in 2016.

James has 16 years industry experience of which 9 years are with Marsh. Prior to joining Marsh, James worked as a marine broker in London. Subsequently, he moved to be the General Manager of an international broker in Hong Kong, responsible for growing energy and marine related portfolios in Asia. Prior to insurance, James also served 6 years as a British Army Officer in the Royal Armoured Corps.

Derek is the Head of Strategic Risk Consulting for Asia and is based in Singapore. He leads a team of consultants who deliver a wide range of risk management solutions to clients across the region. Derek’s focus is on helping clients develop resilience in an evolving risk landscape that sees emerging threats gaining prominence in a post-pandemic world. The Strategic Risk Consulting team specializes in the following practices: Enterprise Risk Management, Business Continuity Management, Incident Response & Crisis Management, and Climate & Sustainability.

Prior to joining Marsh, Derek was the Head of Crisis & Security Consulting in Asia-Pacific for a global specialist risk management consultancy. In that role, he helped clients develop and implement preventative security management controls to protect people, assets and reputations. Additionally, he delivered advisory during real-world incidents and crises to mitigate the impacts of acute threats to clients’ organizations. Derek also served as the Regional Manager for mainland Southeast Asia at a boutique consultancy that specialized in HSE risk management in upstream oil & gas operations. Finally, he is a 12-year veteran of the United States Air Force, where he served in several locations around the world as an aviation logistics officer.

Cristina is responsible for all aspects of Marsh Asia’s sales and business development across the region. In addition, she leads the regions Corporate and Commercial client practices, comprised largely of middle-market and SME companies. Cristina ensures Marsh innovates and optimizes its client offerings to ensure we evolve at pace with our clients’ emerging risk exposures, with an eye toward developing solutions customized to midsize and smaller companies. Cristina also focuses on ensuring clients can seamlessly access the full breadth of the resources of the firm across consulting, risk financing and risk transfer to protect their business from volatility and support their growth journey.

Cristina is based in Marsh’s Singapore office, with the majority of her time spent with clients across Asia.

Cristina previously held various roles in sales, property and casualty insurance broking and strategy at Marsh in Los Angeles and New York, most recently running the Global Sales Strategy and Operations Center of Excellence, based in New York. Prior to joining Marsh Cristina spent time in the hospitality industry, working for the Four Season Hotel Group.

Cristina graduated summa cum laude from the Fox School of Business; Temple University in Philadelphia with a Bachelors of Business Administration in Risk Management and Insurance.
