Event Details

The private sector has long been a key player in humanitarian action. Private sector actors can leverage their own expertise, resources, influence, and channels to address humanitarian needs and make positive contributions to long-term peace and development. They can work independently by liaising directly with people affected by humanitarian crises, or by collaborating with humanitarian organizations, bringing life-changing benefits to vulnerable communities while creating clear business opportunities. These partnerships help build and support a positive public image of a brand, as well as foster employee engagement and generate business value.

Philanthropy is a necessary corporate strategy for businesses to thrive today, as consumers and employees increasingly expect the companies that they associate with to contribute to society. In recent years, an increasing number of corporates have been engaging in humanitarian action, and more are also partnering with humanitarian agencies to ensure that their support goes the extra mile. Businesses are also increasingly interested in contributing towards achieving the sustainable development goals, which is a collection of 17 interlinked global goals designed to be a "blueprint to achieve a better and more sustainable future for all".

Join us for an in-person panel discussion at the Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel with humanitarian actors and representatives from the private sector on how they are working together to support humanitarian action, and why philanthropy is good for business.
